RUIS Reports And Charts

RUIS has a powerful reporting and charting engine that allows the user to create:

  • The Room Utilisation Dashboard, a snapshot view of the space utilisation metrics from several perspectives, on one easy to read page
  • Space utilisation reports and charts for Campus, Precinct, Building, Room Type, Room Owner, Room and Event Owner
  • Detailed data analysis outputs of room frequency factor, seat occupancy factor, used periods, and more
Building Utilisation Chart

  • Required rooms reports, displaying the optimum number and size of rooms
  • Comparison reports and charts that compare room usage from one year (or term or semester) to the next
  • Analysis of room use audit results against timetabled room bookings
  • Usage by week reports, giving an overview of usage for each week
  • Timetable profile heat maps, showing usage for each timetable period in the week

Chart Types

A range of chart types are supported and are fully configurable by the user. Chart types include Bar, Column, Column / Line, Line, Pie, and Scatter. Both 2D and 3D charts can be displayed, and full control is given for data series display, axis labels, and report settings values. Chart colours are either user-defined or employ the system defaults. All RUIS charts can be exported direct to Excel charts for sharp printing and document merging, as well as PDF, HTML or printed outputs.

Data Management

RUIS is designed to import data from space databases, timetabling systems, and student systems via simple tab-delimited text files. Additionally, the RUIS Data Translation Interface converts complex timetable data from CELCAT, Facility CMIS or Syllabus Plus into RUIS-readable format with just a few button clicks. Users can create discrete 'Planning Periods' that are datasets of room and event information years, or semesters, or audit weeks. These can then be used to generate reports for a single dataset, or to perform utilisation trend analysis by comparing results across multiple datasets.

Filtering

The filter engine lies at the heart of RUIS. This incredibly powerful tool allows users to drill down to the exact data they want displayed, using an easy to use Filter Wizard. Filters can be applied for Campuses, Precincts, Buildings, Room Owners, Room Types and Rooms. Time filtering can be set up for weeks, days, and multiple time periods withing weeks. Every filter can be saved for future use.

Once a report has been generated, it can be filtered further in the report table using an Excel style interface. Report tables can also be sorted in ascending or descending order.

User Interface

We have employed the latest Web components in the latest version of RUIS to make using the system as easy as possible. Microsoft Office users will be familiar with the look and feel of the RUIS interface, through the employment of interactive drop-down menus, icon-driven toolbars, and graphical navigation controls. Comprehensive context-sensitive help panels are available on every page to guide the user through the process of setting up the software and generating state-of-the-art room utilisation reports and charts.
