RUIS - The Room Utilisation Information System

RUIS is designed to help space managers to get a clearer picture of room utilisation at their institution. Different views of space uilisation can be created in a matter of seconds, using data imported from popular timetabling and architectural systems, including Syllabus Plus, CELCAT® Timetabler, Facility CMIS, and Archibus. Estates managers, planners and departmental administrators are able obtain focused and detailed information about room utilisation, and decision makers have the ability to identify opportunities for improving space and operational efficiency, with a consequent impact on more sustainable institutional practices.

Data from room audits can be analysed against data from timetabling systems to compare planned vs actual usage. Comprehensive reporting and charting tools enable facilities managers to obtain detailed knowledge of room utilisation. The reports provide crucial information for campus planning and new build projects.

RUIS room utilisation calculations are compliant with the UK Higher Education Statistics Agency HESA method for calculating space use, specifically D45 Frequency Rate Calculation and D46 Occupancy Rate Calculation.
